Job Description

The Superintendent ensures the safe and efficient management of the department and its productivity.  He/she participates in the planning of the work schedule and collaborates in the follow-up of projects.  

General responsabilities          

Ensures that the planning is respected in terms of budgets and time allocated for each project;

From the general planning, establishes a specific planning for his department and ensures the efficient management of his team;

Plans the organization of work for the next shift, transmitting the progress of the work and the revised planning to the shift supervisors;

Manages employee performance, discipline and enforcement of the collective agreement;

Ensures compliance with occupational health and safety regulations;

Inspects and ensures the quality of work performed;

Ensures the improvement of work methods and processes.

Specific responsabilities

Responsible for the coordination of sandblasting and painting operations on ships in drydock;

Ensures that the work schedule is respected, while taking into account uncontrollable elements such as outside temperature and rain; 

Ensures that the department's budgets are respected

Ensures that material needs are managed and that budgets for materials and products are respected;

Ensures that toxic products are managed in a safe manner, that occupational health and safety rules are respected and that appropriate personal protective equipment is worn;

Ensures that work meets established quality requirements and participates in customer inspections.

Skills and experience                                                                                                   

Education: A professional diploma in industrial painting (or equivalent experience)    

Experience in a management position: 3 years

Software: Microsoft Office

Languages: English / French intermediate level spoken and read

Experience in personnel management

Technical knowledge in the naval sector (an asset)


Driver's license (occasional travel)

Ability to work in confined, restricted, high or dark spaces

Work outdoors

Deadlines are sometimes tight and not known in advance


Salary between 70k and 100k depending on experience
